How Pace is Calculated

Pace = Time ÷ Distance (e.g., 25 minutes ÷ 5 km = 5:00 per km)

Time = Distance × Pace

Distance = Time ÷ Pace

Speed = Distance ÷ Time (in hours)

Common Race Distances

5K = 5 km (3.1 mi) — great beginner race distance.
10K = 10 km (6.2 mi) — intermediate distance.
Half Marathon = 21.1 km (13.1 mi).
Marathon = 42.2 km (26.2 mi) — the classic endurance race.

Tips for Improving Your Pace

Consistency matters more than intensity. Run 3-4 times per week and gradually increase distance by no more than 10% each week. Include one interval training session per week (alternating between fast and slow) to build speed, and one long slow run to build endurance.
